In my opinion, this song means, that we are kings of our own imagination:
"I am the king of my own land" A message that can be interpreted by this song could be that life's meaning is whatever we choose it to be, and that we aren't bound by death. "Facing tempests of dust, I'll fight until the end" Tempests of dust might be real world, our thoughts and problems that we try to solve and we forget to dream,so problems (dust) cover our mind and imagination (land) and we cant imagine anything but them. Everyday life has tended to cloud this reality that our existence means what we want it to mean and that we have the power. "I´ll fight till the end" means that if we lose our imagination/dreams-in fact we lose our "perfect" fictional lives(hopes) where we are all free and that we all have control, even till the day we die and beyond which can be implied from, "Now and forever,I am your king" which adds that once we have lived we never really lose that control because the meaning of life that we give before we die will be passed down "forever."

So many people have never stopped to consider what actually gives life meaning. They look back years later and wonder why their relationships have fallen apart and why they feel so empty, even though they could possibly have all the money in the world. Many goals reveal their emptiness only after years have been wasted in their pursuit. But is all that time being spent trying to achieve really futile?
Having goals is part of the human condition, and people who pursue them feel that in them they will find meaning. These objectives range form successes in business to religion. What really gives life meaning is happiness, and that doesn't always come from success. Happiness comes from doing what you want to do, what you feel. So yes, success has a large role in the institution, but it is not the sole constituent. Success is one possible entity that explains what gives life meaning. Some believe that the true meaning of life is for God's enjoyment. Other's believe that the meaning of life is to rule the world. What if the real answer is no meaning at all? What if it is the very fact that life has no meaning that makes it so special. I agree with Viktor Frankl in his entry in the Beacon Press that "ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of his life is, but rather must recognize that it is he who is asked. In a word, each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life he can only respond by being responsible." So essentially, we are not capable of ever being able to effectively answer this question with evidence. What makes life meaningful is to do everything you want to do, and to have no regrets -- the true meaning of life is success. The author ponders on "what life was all about" and implies that he wishes he had accomplished more and become something different {or better} claiming that he "had wandered aimlessly" throughout his life. He also considers triumph over trials to be a success itself and that in order to have meaning in life, you should remember "who you want to become", meaning that it is never to late to be who you want to be and do what you want to do.
Remember
by Dawn Jensen Published : Feb 2006 As I walk through life, I look at all I have done. I had wandered aimlessly, And wondered what I have become. I have been through so much, It is amazing I made it through. The lessons I have learned I am shocked I pulled through. The times I wondered What life was all about. The trials experienced in life, Can make all the good come out. We try to make it day by day. Remembering what we were taught. Just remember some time to pray, It is important, We need it every day. Life can be short. Unexpected at that. We try to take its punches, Just hoping it won't break our back. Remember who you are, Who you want to become. Everything will fall into place, When the time comes. Don't forget I love you's, Every chance you get. The time may be short, There is no time to regret. Life can be exciting, As we all have found out. Eventful, even busy There is no time to be left out. Remember who you are, And who you want to become. The time can be short Don't leave things undone. Remember your families, They are the only ones you've got. To carry you in times of need They can not be bought. Remember they love you, Either here or there. They will always be with us. Help for things to bear. |
